About Me

Hello, I'm Idan Hur, a Backend Engineer with 2+ years building and maintaining production systems for critical infrastructure — power-grid IoT monitoring used by electric utilities across intercity networks. I specialize in C# and .NET, with strong experience in REST API design, authentication, cloud-native architectures, and modernizing legacy systems under live production constraints. I received my Bachelor's in Software Engineering with a specialization in Machine Learning and AI from Afeka Tel Aviv Academic College of Engineering, where I participated in the "Smart Up" Honors program.

Beyond C#, I work with JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, and Bash, along with web technologies like React, Next.js, Tailwind, and Bootstrap, and databases including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, and SQL Server. In my current role, I've built an AI-powered fault detection feature end-to-end and led a full-stack framework migration on a live SaaS platform with zero incidents. I also design event-driven systems using RabbitMQ and Kafka.

Experience

  • Fullstack Engineer (Backend-focused) @Megger

    12/2024 - Present | Natanya, Israel

Built an AI-powered fault detection feature end-to-end: integrated ML model output via API, implemented fault classification logic and grid section identification, and delivered site-wide frontend and backend changes. Led a full-stack framework migration (.NET 6 to .NET 9, React 16 to 18) on a live SaaS platform serving electric utilities — zero production incidents through rigorous staged testing. Designed and secured REST APIs using JWT, OAuth 2.0, and role-based access control for an IoT platform monitoring fault detection across intercity power-grid infrastructure. Stabilized a React frontend with accumulated technical debt: untangled machine-specific local dependencies to make the build fully reproducible and resolved pre-existing runtime errors.

  • Software Engineer @Megger

    12/2023 - 12/2024 | Natanya, Israel

Cut device calibration test time from 23 min to 14 min by rewriting synchronous test workflows as async in .NET Framework 4.8; also resolved recurring hardware communication failures causing multiple test restarts per day. Eliminated manual SQL Server update steps by implementing Entity Framework migrations — significantly reducing deployment time and removing a recurring source of human error. Built a fully functional Docker containerization POC for the production backend as a self-initiated project, demonstrating a viable path to containerized deployments.
